Planned Maintenance – Icknield Way, Andover – Carriageway Resurfacing – Works Notification

As part of the annual Planned Maintenance programme, Hampshire Highways are undertaking carriageway resurfacing works in Icknield Way, from Viking Way up to and including the junction of Smannell Road.

The works are currently programmed to start on Monday 2^nd October 2023 and are expected to last for 4 days, followed by 4 further nights, during which time the road will be closed in phases to through traffic. There will be no works over the weekend.

The works will be carried out in the following phases:-

• Phase 1 – Icknield Way (Venice Court to Viking Way) between 09.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs – 2nd to 5th October 2023.

• Phase 2 – Icknield Way (Smannell Road to Venice Court) between 20.00 hrs to 06.00 hrs – 6th October to 9th October 2023
• Phase 3 – Smannell Road (between Cricketers Way eastern junction and Dairy Road) between 22.00 hrs to 06.00 hrs – 10th and 11th October 2023.

It is fully appreciate the inconvenience to local residents and businesses as a result of night working and a letter has been issued about the impending works (see below).

Whilst there is an allowance within the time periods shown above for delays, there may be times when Hampshire Highways have to postpone works at very short notice; based on the latest weather forecasts, this can occur just prior to works commencing. Any significant changes to the scheduled dates will be made clear on the yellow sign boards located at the works limits.

Information signs advising road users will be erected before the start of works.

Smannell Parish Council – 25 September 2023 Agenda

The next meeting of the Smannell Parish Council will be held on 25 September 2023 at 18.30 hours at April’s Farm, Green Lane Farm, Upper Enham, Smannell. Andover Villages Bus Service Announcement

A replacement Andover Village Bus Service has been secured. The new services will operate the same routes and bus stops on a reduced timetable commencing Monday 11th September 2023. Passengers will be able to travel into Andover arriving in Andover Bus Station for 10.30am and depart from Andover Bus Station at 1.30pm. The bus stop will be adjacent to Unity Transport’s office on Western Avenue. The service will be operated with a Unity Minibus, similar to that shown below and there will be a £1 each way fare to access the service.

Passengers are required to pre-book the service by contacting Unity Transport on 01264 356808. Unity Transport is the operator of these services.

C4 will now become AV4 operating on a Monday only.

C5 will now become AV5 operating on a Wednesday only.

C6 will now become AV6 operating on a Friday only.

C8 & C3 will now merge and become AV8 operating on a Tuesday & Thursday only.

The notices that are displayed at the bus stops and Andover Bus Station can be downloaded below, providing further information. The passenger usage on the current days/times will be regularly monitored and where possible, it may be possible to increase the number of days the service operates on. It is important to state that improvements cannot be implemented, which would exceed the budget available for this service.

Cost of Living News

The annual inflation rate slowed to 6.4% in the year to July 2023, down from 7.3% in June and a peak of 9.6% in October 2022.

It follows the largest monthly fall in gas prices since at least 1988, largely because of the lowering of the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (Ofgem) price cap in July.
