The Annual General Meeting of the Parish Council is where members must elect a Chair and Vice-Chair for the municipal year May to April.

What is the Annual Parish Assembly?
The Annual Parish Assembly or Meeting is the annual gathering of the electorate of the parish. The Chairman of the parish council usually delivers a report on the activities and decisions of the parish council from the previous civic year (May to April).
Coronation Party – King Charles III – Little London – 7 May 2023
Residents and their immediate family are warmly invited to join the Little London Playing Field and Events Committee at the LITTLE LONDON PLAYING FIELD on SUNDAY 7TH MAY 2023 from 2:00pm. There will be a free Cream Tea, you can also bring your own picnic and there will be lots of fun and games. So, please join us as we celebrate the CORONATION OF KING CHARLES III. Smannell Parish Council – Annual Unaudited Accounts for the Financial Year End 31 March 2023 Published
The Annual Unaudited Accounts for the Financial Year End 31 March 2023 have just been prepared and published but subject to the caveat that they have to be Resolved and Agreed by Smannell Parish Council at the meeting on 15 May 2023 and are also subject to acceptance and agreement by the Internal and External Auditor. Nationwide Emergency Alert System set to be Tested on Sunday 23 April 2023
A UK-wide alerts test will take place in the afternoon of 23 April which will see people receive a test message on their mobile phones.
The system enables people to be contacted via their mobile phone when lives are in danger. It will be used to warn you in the event of emergencies, such as severe flooding or wildfires.
Emergency Alerts are sent to all compatible mobile phones within an area of risk. They don’t track your location, need your phone number, or collect personal data. Only the government and the emergency services will be able to send them.
If you get an Emergency Alert on your phone, you’ll hear a loud, siren-like sound. A message on your screen will tell you about the emergency and how best to respond. If you receive an alert, read the alert carefully and follow the instructions.
You MUST NOT hold a mobile phone while driving or riding a motorcycle. It is illegal to do so. If you receive an alert while driving, do not pick up your phone and attempt to deal with the message. Continue driving as normal, staying in full control of your vehicle. If you feel the need to look at your phone, you must find a safe and legal place to pull over first.
When you receive the welcome message on the day, you do not need to take any action. The siren will stop automatically after ten seconds. A welcome message will stay on screen until you acknowledge it, just like a ‘low battery’ warning.
There are less than two weeks until the polls open for people to cast their votes in the local elections on the 4th May 2023.
There should be no barriers to voting for anyone. Everyone should have the right to vote on their own and in secret.
There’s a whole range of support you can get for when you come to vote, including:
Taking a trust companion with you to a polling station to help you vote
Tactile voting devices such as magnifiers and large print ballot papers
Audio recordings of your ballot papers are available on our website

On Saturday 6 May 2023, The King’s Coronation will be broadcast live on TV, radio and online, and shown on large screens at selected locations across the UK.Whether it’s watching the processions in London in person, or visiting one of the screening sites in the capital’s parks, there’s plenty of helpful guidance online about how you can watch. You can also find a list of large screening events taking place closer to home.
Winchester Cathedral is also offering a live screening of the Coronation Service from Westminster Abbey. Screens will be positioned throughout the Nave, with a large central screen by the altar. You don’t need to book as seats will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
